Yukari wants nothing more than to make her parents happy by studying hard and getting into a good college. One afternoon, however, she is kidnapped by a group of self-styled fashionistas calling themselves “Paradise Kiss.” Yukari suddenly finds herself flung into the roller-coaster life of the fashion world, guided by George, art-snob extraordinaire. In a glamorous makeover of body, mind and soul, she is turned from a hapless bookworm into her friends 22 own exclusive clothing model.

Avelys Notes: I love this manga! This art is so nice. The mangaka for this manga also wrote Nana, which shares a similar art style and tone. Falling in love and finding some sort of goal in life is something we all think about, especially during our high school years when we’re about to graduate. Our MC is just like any other girl, trying to find her path to happiness. She starts making new friends that make her feel like she has a purpose and she gradually warms up to them. This leads her to fall in love with a pretty unstable but gorgeous male lead. The drama which unfolds it very entertaining to read. You can’t help but root for the characters and wish for them to succeed. Even the side characters have some interesting stories and experiences which made them who they are today. They all seem to have some sort of unresolved issues that they need to work out and even some of the stories intertwine. The anime adaptation was well done and had fantastic music. I recommend if you like characters with dark pasts and lots of drama.
