Life in the year 2020 in Tokyo is tough, as crime rates are high, and crimes against women rank second only to murders. To prevent their daughter from being exposed to these crimes, Tsukasa’s parents raised her to be a male. Tsukasa aspires to be a policeman fighting against the yakuza, just like her parents. However, her parents died in the line of work, leaving behind Tsukasa and her 3 brothers to fend for themselves. Tsukasa must thus work as a bodyguard for her classmate, Ryuji, who happens to be the leader of the most powerful yakuza group in Tokyo, to pay off the family’s debts.
Avelys Rating: 7/10
Avelys Notes: I really loved this manga as it introduced an interesting scenario with an amazing female lead. She strong, independent and head strong. The problem always starts when the story is unnecessarily stretched out. I couldn’t help but lose interest are the story lost it’s momentum. There was some petty love triangles that didn’t even go anywhere but felt like they were thrown in just for the sake of it. Other than that, the dynamic between the two leads was amazing. They had so much chemistry and the lines they shared were done well. This mangaka also wrote Skip Beat, in case you recognized the similarity in the art style. Recommend if you like strong characters, mafia and a lot of action. That’s something this manga did well and that’s have a lot of action and fairly good story.
